What an exciting day for the Marin County Athletic League swimmers! I was lucky enough to get to watch some of the action take place over at TAM High School on Saturday and I couldn’t have been more excited about the performances! Long time members Mattie and Brigitta Winkler were there racing head to head in the 100 Breast, both did an excellent job. Brigitta was able to podium taking the Bronze in a time of 1:05.74. It was a pretty exciting race considering the girls are sisters and this will most likely be the last time they will be seen swimming competitively together, as Mattie is off to Whittier in the Fall on a Water Polo Scholarship! Congratulations to both Winklers!!
I also saw Gabriel Patino out there smashing the 200 Freestyle relay with fellow teammates from Redwood High. Congrats Gabriel!
Lastly one of our newest swim instructors was out there racing. I saw Devon Demont on the anchor leg of the WINNING 200 freestyle relay, if I were you, I would sign up for lessons with her STAT. Devon will be teaching with us all summer, before she heads to UC Davis on a swimming scholarship.
Overall it was a very exciting event to watch, as a former collegiate swimmer I always enjoy witnessing some good ole fast swimming, thanks for the entertainment MCALS.
Beginning May 15th we are going to open the Main Pool from 1-6pm on both Saturday and Sunday to accommodate the growing number of members. The lanes will be removed and the diving board will be open. This will allow for more space to enjoy free swim, rather than only having the South Pool.
We are planning a special summer kick-off for June 12th, where kids can enjoy a half hour swim lesson and free swim with all of their favorite instructors. Please stay tuned for more details regarding this event.
